Listening Beyond Words: What Animals Are Already Telling Us

There’s a moment that happens in almost every session I do.
It’s the moment when the owner pauses…
and says something like, “I’ve always felt that… I just didn’t know if it was real.”
And I gently tell them: it was.

Most people already sense more from their animals than they realize.

They notice shifts in energy.
They feel when something is off.
They have moments where they just “know” what their animal is feeling.

But then the mind steps in.
And they question it.
Dismiss it.
Tell themselves they’re making it up.

Animal communication isn’t about learning something foreign.
It’s about remembering something natural.
It’s a quiet, intuitive way of listening, not through words,
but through images, sensations, emotions, and knowing.

Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of animals.
Horses, dogs, cats… even birds.
And while every session is different, there are a few things that are always true:

Animals are aware.
They are responsive.
And they are communicating far more than we’ve been taught to recognize.

One of the most common reasons people reach out is behavior.
A horse that suddenly becomes reactive.
A dog that won’t settle.
An animal that seems anxious, withdrawn, or resistant.

They want to know:
“What’s wrong?”
“How do I fix it?”

But what we often discover together is this:
The behavior isn’t random.
It’s communication.

Sometimes it’s physical discomfort.
Sometimes it’s emotional stress.
Sometimes it’s confusion, inconsistency, or something in the environment that doesn’t feel safe.
And sometimes… it’s a reflection of what the human themselves is carrying.

This is where the work becomes deeper than expected.
Because animals don’t separate physical, emotional, and energetic experiences the way humans do.
They feel everything as one.
And they respond to everything as one.

I remember working with a horse who struggled to be handled.
He wasn’t aggressive… but he was defensive.
Every interaction felt like too much.
His owner was kind, patient, and trying very hard to do the right thing.
But the horse continued to brace.
Pull away.
Resist.

When I connected with him, what came through wasn’t defiance.
It was overwhelm.
A nervous system that didn’t feel safe enough to process what was being asked.
And underneath that… a deep desire to trust.

That’s something people are often surprised by.
Animals want connection.
They want to feel safe with us.
But safety, for them, isn’t created by what we say.
It’s created by how we are.

In sessions, animals will often show me things that don’t seem directly related at first.
An image.
A sensation.
A feeling.

But when we explore it together, it almost always connects.

To their body.
To their environment.
Or to the person they’re in relationship with.

And this is where something shifts for the human.
Because instead of trying to fix the animal… they begin to understand them.

Understanding changes everything.
It softens frustration.
It creates space.
It allows for more thoughtful, aligned choices.
And often… behavior begins to shift naturally from there.

Another area where animal communication can be especially meaningful is during times of transition.
Illness.
Injury.
End-of-life decisions.

These are some of the hardest moments for any animal owner.
And what people often want most is clarity.
Not just medical information…
but a deeper sense of what their animal is experiencing.
What they need.
What they’re ready for.

I’ve had many sessions where an animal clearly communicated that they were tired.
Or that they were ready.
And while those conversations are never easy… they often bring a sense of peace that wasn’t there before.
Because the decision is no longer being made for the animal.
It’s being made with them.

At its core, animal communication is about relationship.
It’s about being willing to listen beyond what we can see or measure.
To trust that there is more happening than we’ve been taught.

And for many people, once they experience it… something opens.
Not just with their animal.
But within themselves.

Because the same awareness that allows us to hear our animals… is the awareness that allows us to hear ourselves more clearly too.
If you’ve ever had the feeling that your animal is trying to tell you something… they probably are.
And sometimes, having someone help translate that conversation… can change everything.

If something in this resonated, and you’re feeling like your animal has something they want you to understand…

I offer one-on-one animal communication sessions.
