Embracing Unbridled Freedom: Overcoming Fear and Building Connection with Your Horse

Awareness Equestrian Journey heart soul confidence-based horsemanship Horse Connection Overcoming Fear Unbridled Freedom

Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting a live episode in our Unbridled Freedom private Facebook group, where we tackled a topic that resonates deeply with many of us – overcoming the fear of falling. The response was incredible, and it's heartening to see so many women engaging in this important conversation.

Fear is a very real emotion, and it's something I encounter frequently in my work with women who share a passion for horses. Some openly express their fear, while others communicate it through subtle body language, often without even realizing it. In our recent episode, I shared tips, techniques, and tools that have proven effective in overcoming this fear. How do I know? Well, I've been in the saddle for over 40 years and have experienced my fair share of unexpected dismounts. It's a fear that crosses the minds of many, even seasoned riders like myself.

Having mastered the advice I shared, I've had the privilege of coaching numerous women since hanging up my Heart Soul Confidence-Based Horsemanship shingle. What I've learned over the past two decades, particularly in the last five years, is the incredible value of having a mentor you can trust and relate to. This relationship forms the cornerstone of not just overcoming fears but building a lasting connection with your horse.

I want to clarify – I'm not a traditional riding instructor or horse trainer. I consider myself a horse and woman relationship and partnership specialist. My role is to coach women through their personal journeys with their horses, helping them become the best they can be, which in turn allows their horses to reach their full potential.

The foundation of all our interactions with horses lies in building a solid foundation. Trust, connection, and communication form the basis of the relationship, which, once established, evolves into a harmonious partnership. Picture two beings so in sync that they become one – this, to me, is unbridled freedom.

My 12-month mentorship program centers around achieving this shared goal. Back in 2000, I committed to becoming the best I could be for horses, studying with mentors for 18 years to reach that goal. Little did I know that personal development and self-work would play such a significant role. While I've become masterful at horsemanship, the journey continues as I strive to master the art of Unbridled Freedom throughout my life.

As the saying goes, "You don't know what you don't know until you know it." If you're struggling to overcome fears around horses or longing for a deeper connection with your equine companion, I'm here to guide you.
